We are delighted that our project Nevendon Place for Basildon Borough Council was winner last night of Best Partnership (0-100 Homes) category at the Inside Housing Development 2023 Awards.

The Inside Housing Development Awards celebrate developments, and recognise housing teams, which have had a positive impact in communities across the UK over the past year.

And Nevendon Place has been hugely impactful in Basildon. Located on the site of the former ITEC Centre, the new facility provides 10 one-bedroom self-contained apartments through the retrofit of the existing facility, as well as 6 one-bedroom pods, known as ‘Solohaus’ units, donated by the Hill Group – all to provide Basildon rough sleepers a fresh new start. Each resident has their own living spaces with private bathrooms and kitchens, plus all the white goods, furniture, and other essential items for them to be able to live fully independently.

The project involved partnership working, with Peabody and the Salvation Army providing primary day to day support, local charity the Lighthouse Furniture Project providing all the essential items, and contractor Morgan Sindall Property Services with ECD Architects and project managers Keegans responsible for the conversion and the fitting the new homes with full kitchens, bathrooms and living accommodation.

Peabody, the Salvation Army, and Basildon Council are now working together having created a joint management plan and referral process.

The facility also includes office space and training rooms onsite for support workers, council staff and supporting agencies.

It is worth a mention that Nevendon Place  was also shortlisted for the Best Supported Housing Development category, our Drymen Passivhaus project from Hanover Scotland Housing Association was shortlisted in the Best Affordable Housing Development Scotland category and the Best Healthy Homes category, and our Ashbridge Street project for Westminster city Council was shortlisted for the Best affordable housing development – less than £20m category.
