Parish Primary School Achieves Planning

January 30, 2015

We are pleased to announce that the Planning Application for the expansion of Parish Primary School has been granted.

Parish is a two-form entry primary school for children aged 4-11, set in 5 acres of parkland on the outskirts of Bromley. The mansion housing much of the school dates back to 1770. There are a number of external buildings which are comprised of three single storey classrooms, one 2 storey classroom block, a single storey reception classroom, and a single storey hall and kitchen block.

The project proposals enable the school to complete its expansion from 2FE to 3FE through the replacement of the existing temporary classroom blocks with a new modular building providing 12 new classrooms and associated facilities.

The design of this new extension has been specifically designed as a simple single storey structure to ensure there is no negative impact on the neighbouring residences.

Light is brought in to the deeper parts of the plan through the use of roof lights. These are located in the classrooms and at intervals along the corridor.

Additionally there is to be an external canopy to the north side of the building. The design of the canopy provides an integrated approach to seating and planting providing a unified and cohesive look.

The canopy also acts as feature whish ties the notionally separate services block and classroom block together. This is done by using a coloured band along the fascia of the canopy.
