Tessa Lynch
Architect
BAS, MArch, ARB
Tessa is a qualified Architect, having completed her Part III Postgraduate Diploma at the University of Westminster in 2024. Since joining ECD Architects in 2022, Tessa has pursued her commitment to sustainable design through working on the Cambridge retrofit pilot and SHDF-funded retrofit projects.
Tessa began her career at a small Auckland practice specialising in educational architecture. Working in a close-knit team allowed her to gain hands-on experience across all project stages, shaping her comprehensive approach to architecture.
During her studies at Victoria University of Wellington, Tessa developed a strong interest in supporting well-being within the built environment. She explored this through the design of inclusive university spaces, employing a multi-disciplinary and collaborative process involving research, student workshops, and a pop-up lounge in the architecture campus atrium.
Looking beyond the building in her work with the Cambridge Retrofit Pilot at ECD, Tessa has also taken the lead in delivering the project’s social value, steering the team toward impactful, community-centred outcomes. This has allowed her to revisit ideas from her masters’ work, combined with ECD’s expertise in delivering sustainable outcomes for people and the environment.
