Loreana is Regional Head of Sustainability and Associate Director at ECD Architects. As a qualified Architect (ARB, RIBA), with a Master’s degree in Sustainable Design, she has extensive professional experience in all stages of the design and construction process, both for new-build and retrofit projects.
Loreana is a Certified Passivhaus Designer, Retrofit Coordinator and AECB Approved Certifier. She is also a strong advocate for the re-use and retrofit of buildings as well as for the undertaking of Post Occupancy Evaluation and monitoring, which translate into more accurate designs and better performing buildings.
As Regional Head of Sustainability, Loreana is responsible for ensuring that our projects meet the highest standards of sustainability and environmental responsibility, as well as making sure that our practice follows our short and long-term sustainability strategy and action plan. As an Architect with a passion for evidence-based design, she integrates sustainable practices into every aspect of her work, both from a project and an architectural practice perspective. From the sourcing and footprint of materials to designing energy-efficient buildings, her goal is to create beautiful, healthy and functional spaces that have a positive impact on both people and the planet.
Loreana was the Editor of the Retrofit Designer course for the Retrofit Academy. She is a member of the Design South East Expert Panel and often volunteers in LETI and ACAN. She was co-author of the LETI Climate Emergency Retrofit Guide and is often involved in working groups and peer reviews of guidance documents for various organisations within the sector.
Loreana is a recurrent judge at the ‘Façade, Design and Engineering Awards’ where, for three years in a row, she has been the panel’s sustainability expert to assess national and international projects. Loreana also collaborates with universities, providing lectures and workshops to architectural students.
