ECD Head of BIM Tech to Provide Workshop in Denmark

August 28, 2018

Patrick will be speaking at Rockwool’s BIM international workshop about the importance of structured data in the process of digital construction. Having worked on a range of BIM project throughout his career, he has found that ensuring product information in structures correctly in a BIM model has underpinned the BIM process biggest challenge.

This presentation will focus on, if BIM is to truly work as a digital flow of information from building design through to operation, then the correct information of physical products must be represented within the model, allowing the overall building model to be analysed. Through standardising data, clients and project teams will be able to compare and select products based on value and life cycle costing rather than just price. This approach allows for better quality products to be selected, so that life cycle costings can be reduced.

ECD Architects and our sister company Keegans have both achieved BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification in line with the Government’s Construction Strategy 2025.

We have been working with the BRE to ensure the we have the capability to work within a BIM compliant project delivery in line with BS1192 and PAS 1192 BIM Specifications. The implementation of these processes allows better communication with the client, greater understanding within the project team of the building as a whole and the ability to produce a more integrated design.
