Planning permission has been granted for Queens Park Court Sheltered Accomodation, providing an extension hosting communal facilities for residents.

This project has a challenging history, having suffered fire damage during the Covid-19 pandemic. In response, ECD Architects have worked with Basildon Borough Council to ensure absent facilities are replaced with an improved community hall space, activity rooms, office space, reading snug, kitchen, laundry and new landscaped garden, to provide the residents the home environment they deserve.

The design team have carefully coordinated the proposal to provide a welcoming and relaxed interior, with exposed CLT soffits connecting the internal spaces with the surrounding gardens, MVHR providing good internal air quality and a carefully curated set of finishes to meet the HAPPI standard. Externally, the architecture references the original context, whilst remaining contemporary in it’s form and empathising with a new development to the South.
