We are delighted to share that our Regeneration project in Bellsmyre has successfully been granted Planning Permission!

The proposal includes the construction of 140 affordable homes on behalf of Caledonia Housing Association. The development provides a mix of semi-detached houses, terraced houses, and cottage flats, including wheelchair accessible units, and will provide between 1-4 bedrooms.

Our design responds to the recognition that open space has become increasingly important during and post pandemic. Our development was therefore designed with the connections between open spaces at the forefront. The masterplan creates two perpendicular green ‘avenues’ through the site which connects our proposed open spaces to the existing open spaces in the surrounding context, subsequently expanding the green network. These routes are pedestrianised and encompass landscaping, a cycle lane, seating and play equipment, from which are larger public open spaces which cater to a variety of needs in response to the key outcomes recognised from resident feedback. The proposal also allows for a hybrid of green infrastructure such as swales and raingardens, which not only add to the aesthetics of the development, but supports biodiversity and also contributes to the drainage strategy for the steep site.

The proposed form and massing of the buildings are traditional in character but with modern detailing. Variations of the traditional gable have been explored and applied throughout the development to add interest and variety to the local environment whilst still harmonising with its aesthetics. Where units are located at key corners or gateways within the site, variation of colour and form has been used to highlight and celebrate these areas.

We are delighted with the positive feedback we have received from West Dunbartonshire Council, our client and most importantly the future residents and we look forward to seeing the project progress over the coming months.
