Maddison McAulay
Sustainability Assistant
BSc (Hons)
Maddison joined ECD in June 2022 as a summer intern, working on a variety of projects from large-scale retrofit schemes to smaller-scale works such as warehouse conversions. She quickly developed proficiency with a range of software tools and gained a strong understanding of the early stages of the design process.
After graduating from Edinburgh Napier University with an Honours Degree in Architectural Technology, Maddison returned to ECD in a full-time role. For several years, she worked extensively on large-scale retrofit projects, including the Renfrewshire Regeneration Project, where she developed a strong focus on delivering work with efficiency and ensuring projects progressed smoothly from design to delivery. During this time, she also completed specialist training in PHPP (Passive House Planning Package) and Thermal Bridging, gaining the skills to produce PSI calculations and further enhancing her expertise in low-energy design and building performance.
Maddison has since transitioned into the role of Sustainability Assistant, where she works on Passivhaus certification projects as well as retrofit projects and studies. In this role, she draws on her previous project experience and technical skills while also seeking new and innovative ways to enhance ECD’s internal sustainability expertise, helping to drive the practice’s commitment to environmental performance and sustainable design.
