Kim Sparks

Kim is an architect from New Zealand, with a drive to respond to the climate and biodiversity crises. She has over ten years’ experience in the UK, across a range of sectors. She graduated in from the Victoria University of Wellington in 2012 and has gained extensive professional experience in all stages of the design and construction process.

She also graduated with a Master of Science in Environmental Design and Engineering from UCL, where her dissertation analysed risks of overheating in a Passivhaus school. She is interested in the research and use of natural materials in modern design and enjoys working with straw bale and timber construction in a volunteer capacity.

Recent experience has leaned towards existing buildings over RIBA Stages 3-5, using Revit. Her most recent built project to date was on the cladding package of one of the largest cross laminated timber retrofits in Europe. Kim is advancing her knowledge of Passivhaus and sustainable design applications to projects at ECD and is driven to deliver designs incorporating low energy strategies.
