Finlay, ECD Architects part 2 Architect

Finlay joined ECD as a Part 2 Architectural Assistant in 2024 after studying at the University of Strathclyde, where he completed his masters degree in architecture. Finlay has a passion for sustainable and regenerative design, within architecture but also within the community and natural environment.

He has a particular interest in mass timber construction and design, particularly relating to its introduction to the Scottish context to tackle the ongoing climate crisis. During his final year he researched the system’s potential for addressing social, ecological and economic conditions in the Scottish highlands through the systems integration with sustainable forestry.

Finlay was fortunate to be part of the winning team of the Andrew Gillespie Trust’s first Collaborative Pilgrimage Scholarship, visiting the works of Architect Ricardo Bofill in France and Spain.

Finlay currently focuses on a variety of housing and distillery projects within ECD. He has a passion for sketching and hand drawing which is a crucial part of his design process.
