  • Brief: New build extension & refurbishment of existing school
  • Sustainability Initiatives: BREEAM Very Good

ECD was commissioned to reinstate the unused east wing of Grand Avenue Primary School and extend the current facility to allow the school to expand from a 2-form entry school to a 3-form entry school.

The renovation of the existing 1960s block and linking this building to the existing school has provided the school with six new classrooms. A further 3 classrooms were then been added within a small new extension. Additional natural lighting and ventilation was brought into both the refurbished and new classrooms through the installation of a series of “roof light” windows. These improved teaching spaces without additional distraction.

Also included within these works was the provision of a new nursery and new changing room facilities for the school swimming pool.
