Our Wyndford Shortlisted for Design Award

ECD Architects is delighted to announce that our Wyndford regeneration project has been shortlisted in the Regeneration and Masterplanning category at the 2026 Scottish Design Awards.

Now in their twenty-ninth year, the Scottish Design Awards celebrate Scotland’s most inspiring architecture, creativity and the talented people behind it, recognising projects that respond meaningfully to the nation’s people, places and culture.

The Wyndford Estate regeneration is a £100 million, community-led, landscape-driven masterplan delivering more than 400 homes for social and mid-market rent, alongside a new community hub and integrated public realm. Developed around the unifying concept of “One Wyndford”, the project seeks to repair and reconnect the neighbourhood, creating a resilient and characterful place rooted in local identity.

Central to the masterplan is a green spine linking Maryhill Road to the River Kelvin, shaped by the site’s topography to provide accessible routes, biodiversity, SuDS, play and gathering spaces. The proposal also reimagines the River Kelvin corridor as a safer, more permeable and better-connected active travel route.

A rigorous co-design process informed the proposals over a 20-month period, including monthly workshops with the Future Focus Group and engagement with local schools, youth organisations and wider stakeholders. Resident priorities directly shaped key spatial decisions, including the introduction of a heritage trail celebrating Wyndford’s shared history through integrated public art.

The reinstated community hub will form the civic heart of the development, bringing together social, health, educational and recreational uses within a flexible and outward-facing building designed to support everyday community life.

The shortlisted project exemplifies a people-first approach to regeneration, placing long-term social, environmental and community resilience at the centre of design.
