We were delighted to join the London Borough of Newham’s Mayoral event last week marking the start of works on the Carpenters Estate. Gary Alston, Alex Heffron and Jamie Ho represented ECD Architects at this key milestone. 

Newham Council is transforming the Carpenters Estate, led by its wholly owned housing company Populo Living, delivering 2,300 new and refurbished homes, 50% of which are genuinely affordable.

James Riley Point, the first phase of the estate’s regeneration, will become London’s largest Passivhaus EnerPHit project. The retrofit of the 1960s tower will deliver warm, efficient and healthy homes while cutting both embodied and operational carbon. A new sports and community centre will also provide valuable amenities for residents and the Carpenters Estate community.
