May 15, 2024

We are pleased to announce that EastEnd Homes has been awarded £918,580 through the Government’s Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES) for the Glamis Estate in Shadwell – Elf Row, Glamis West and Roslin heat networks. This funding will go towards upgrading the old and inefficient heat network, replacing pipework, customer controls in each dwelling and in the main plant room, whilst improving insulation across the network. This will benefit 265 dwellings.
The Government’s Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES) is a £77m grant support programme that opened to applicants in February 2023 to provide funding to public, private and third sector applicants in England and Wales, to support improvements to existing district heating or communal heating projects for customers and operators. This follows on from the HNES Demonstrator which ran from October 2021 to March 2022.

The funding allocation in Round 5 of the scheme announced on Tuesday 14th May, brings the total awarded by HNES to date to over £30 million. In Round 5, 24 organisations will receive support, totalling £3.2 million for 33 heat networks across the country. Almost 2,000 residents will benefit from direct efficiency upgrades to their heat networks.
