Diamond Build invited us and our sister company Keegans, to present at a breakfast workshop to share our expertise, knowledge and best practice with a focus on the growing retrofit market.

John Gray, Chairman of Diamond Build Group, said: “Approximately 300 local authorities have declared climate emergencies and are responding with plans outlining a range of objectives and timescales. Although these strategies will affect new builds, the biggest impact is on retrofit and that will require all main contractors to develop and enhance their skills.

“Working more closely with specialists such as ECD and Keegans is key to upskilling our in-house team and ensuring we can learn from successful retrofit projects. This will not only help our clients to meet their sustainability targets, but changes to Building Regulations coming into force in June 2022.

“To further increase our knowledge, we will also be working towards the PAS 2030 accreditation to ensure best practice when installing energy efficiency measures into existing buildings.”

Lizzy Westmacott, Head of Sustainability at ECD, added: “Diamond Build’s extensive experience of the public sector refurbishment market means they are ideally placed to support clients on their net zero journey. Collaboration is key, ensuring we can all share our experiences and expertise to deliver sustainable construction initiatives as efficiently and cost effectively as possible.”

The workshop took place at restaurant Smiths of Smithfield London on 27 April 2022.
