Longforgan: Completion of B Listed Primary School set within a Conservation Area

Longforgan - expansion and refurbishment of a B Listed Longforgan school building set within a conservation area.

February 5, 2021

We are delighted to have handed over our Longforgan Primary School project this week. Following an ambitious 22-month programme, the school is now ready to welcome pupils back to the classroom when it is safe to do so.

The project involved the refurbishment and new build extension to the existing Grade B listed school building, which is set within the conservation village of Longforgan.

The new teaching block has a pitched roof form which creates an airy and light environment to learn in. This contains flexible semi-open plan teaching accommodation accessed off a central circulation spine which also functions as breakout space and additional informal teaching space.

The west block connects to the existing 1908 listed building via a glazed link corridor to the north, directly linking teaching spaces within the old and new parts of the school. Internally, the existing listed school building accommodation has been reconfigured to provide a more efficient layout, with upgrades to the building fabric thermal performance, stonework repairs, replacement roof and windows.
