International Passive House Conference 2018

March 5, 2018

9 – 10 March 2018 | MOC | Munich

We are delighted that our Managing Director James Traynor will be participating in the International Passive House Conference in Munich. Founded by the Passive House Institute to connect Passive House stakeholders worldwide, the International Passive House Association (iPHA) harnesses international interest in Passive House to advance the Standard globally.

James will be presenting during the International Deep Retrofit Policy Workshop. Using our Wilmcote House regeneration project as a base, he will discuss the achievements of Large scale EnerPHit, whole life costs and lessons learnt on high rise retrofit.

Wilmocte House, an estate consisting of three11-storey linked residential blocks in Portsmouth was recognized in December as winner of the SHIFT Awards ‘Best Large Scale Retrofit Project’ category in December. A challenging yet incredibly rewarding project, the retrofit of the homes at Wilmcote House to the Passivhaus EnerPhit standard is already improving the wellbeing of residents and reducing home energy usage.

James Traynor is a Certified Passivhaus Designer with over 15 years’ experience in low-energy design. He obtained his MSc in Advanced Energy & Environmental Studies at the Centre for Alternative Technology and is a graduate of the University of Liverpool school of Architecture. He has a particular interest in Post-Occupancy Evaluation as a means of improving building handover issues and addressing the gap between predicted and actual performance. In recent years James has been involved in a number of pioneering projects which address the future of building refurbishment in the UK. He has created partnerships between industry and academia to improve wider learning and is passionately committed to creating attractive, affordable and sustainable environments that meet the long term needs of the building user.
