Piling Commences at Wilmcote House

October 30, 2014

Works at Wilmcote House are progressing with the arrival of the piling rig last week. The new piles are to be created on the Garden side of the building and will support the structure of the new insulated external walls. These walls will form the new high performance envelope that is part of the retrofit package that will enable the building to achieve the EnerPHit standard.

ECD is working with Portsmouth City Council for the refurbishment works of Wilmcote House which is an 11 storey, 3 tower, housing block. It was constructed in 1968 and is being retrofit to the stringent EnerPHit standard, the retrofit equivalent to Passivhaus.

Wilmcote House is located within the heart of the Somerstown area of Southsea, Portsmouth. The area around Wilmcote House is subject to a major regeneration scheme, which commenced in 2012 with construction of the ‘Somerstown Hub’.

Also underway, the Ground Floor Housing Office has been cleared following its move to the adjacent Community Hub.
