Works commence on the Westway Malton Road Office Hub

February 4, 2014

We are pleased to announce that works have begun on-site to create the Malton Road Office Hub.

ITC Concepts were appointed as contractor by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in December 2013, and works started on site on the 13th of January.

ECD is now working with RBKC and sister company Keegans providing comprehensive architectural design services and coordination of the design team.

The project involves the conversion of a vacant elderly person care centre into a two-storey high-spec office space to accommodate staff for the Council’s Children and Adult Services unit.

The new space is located in three bays below the ‘Westway’ main arterial road into London, adjacent to the Ladbroke Grove Tube Station. It therefore creatively provides space in a highly sought after location within traditionally underutilised space.

Key to the design of the new hub is that the construction works must be kept away from the road structure wherever possible and contact between the two is to be minimised. A new curtain wall will replace the existing South and North façade.

To reflect the uniqueness of its location, this new facade of the building has been designed to replicate and reflect the fast pace and movement of traffic upon the West Way above.
