Portsmouth CC Appoints Contractor for Wilmcote House

January 27, 2014

We are pleased to announce that Keepmoat has been appointed by Portsmouth City Council as Contractor for the regeneration retrofit works at Wilmcote House.

Wilmcote House is an 11-storey residential development located within the heart of the Somerstown area of Southsea. Built in 1968 using a large panel REEMA variant of prefabricated construction, a number of major elements of the building have come to the end of their serviceable life with the result that the building now requires major refurbishment.

ECD designs for retrofitting the building are designed to the stringent EnerPHit standard – the retrofit equivalent to Passivhaus. The project’s tender documentation was therefore exceedingly detailed to ensure these requirements were allowed for within the tendered contract values, and will be maintained on site during the project’s delivery.

EnerPHit and Passivhause focus on achieving very high standards of energy efficiency within buildings which in-turn delivers improved air quality and thermal comfort for building occupiers, and reduced running costs.

Once complete, Wilmcote House will be the largest EnerPHit project in the UK.
