The redevelopment of brownfield site in Chadwell Heath, Grove Farm will provide 104 mixed tenure units plus 20,000ft2 of community, commercial and retail space. With an overall objective of creating an exemplar, sustainable urban neighbourhood that addresses the social, economic and environmental aspects of sustainability, the development is set to meet the following standards:

• Housing Corporation’s Design and Quality Standards (April 2007)
• ETG’s Project Design Quality Plan (PDQP)
• Habinteg’ standards
• Lifetime Homes standards
• CABE Building for Life ‘Silver’ standard
• Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4

The dwellings will be heated via a communal heating system fed by two bio-mass boilers. High levels of thermal insulation, air-tightness, and sound insulation have been specified in order to achieve a high level of sustainability.
