Brief:
To design a 'green' extension to the existing building
Sustainability Initiatives:
Passive solar design, warmcell insulation, low energy lighting, embodied energy audit, grey water recycling
The new building provides 23 study bedrooms for post graduate students together with study carrels in the roofspace and a gym in the basement . Externally the building is designed to match the existing whilst internally a non orthogonal geometry creates a strong feeling of individuality to each room. Natural materials: stone and timber are used throughout.
