Brief:
Development of new entrance and improved security

Community school, currently teaching 465 children between the ages of 3-11 housed within a Grade II listed building dating from 1898. Although in generally good repair, the school had become concerned for its lack of security and its lack of a presentable welcome area for existing and perspective parents. ECD
was appointed to carry forward plans for: new fencing, gates and security access systems; enhancements to playground areas; a new buggy park with new entrance canopy; a new reception area with automated doors and
accessible toilets; a new classroom / parent meeting room and a 1-2-1 room.
Working in consultation with the school, ECD designed the reception desk with built in shelves to hold the new security systems (such as the monitor and tape machine), selected fence panels of close-boarded FSC certified timber (reducing chemical treatments and maintenance costs) and built-in LED sensor outdoor low-level lighting (allowing for increased visibility without adding to light pollution and electrical costs).
