Coombes Croft Library
The renovation of Coombs Croft Library including new extensions front and back and remodelling works increases the facilities floor almost 37% and updates the services the library is able to provide .The new entrance extension provides the library with a visual presence as it stands on the Tottenham High Road opposite the White Hart Lane Football Stadium. Designed with football crowds as a high consideration, the extensions solid yet welcoming design projects the calmness of the library directly onto the street.
The project addresses the lack of space by remodelling and extending the library building, increasing the floor area by 100m2 to provide modern facilities in a welcoming, safe and green environment. The extra space is devoted entirely to public use, providing a meeting room, café, toilets, doubling the number of computers available and giving better access to a rear courtyard used for a range of activities when the weather permits. In addition to the new building works, the existing community sculpture works have been retained and incorporated into the scheme.
Sustainable measures include high levels of insulation to the new elements with additional insulation to the existing internal walls, adaptations to the ventilation system to work in conjunction with the low energy zoned lighting system.
