BREEAM assessments
Introduction to BREEAM
The BRE environmental assessment methodology (BREEAM) provides an environmental rating and label to a building (e.g. good, excellent), based on scores given to a wide range of issues, including: energy, transport, water, materials, management, etc.
Launched in the UK in 1990, BREEAM is the longest established assessment methodology and has been used to assess over 110,000 buildings around the world. Covering a wide range of building types, both existing and new build.
Drivers and Value
The BREEAM assessment process provides a clearly defined and effective structure for the evaluation and delivery of sustainable buildings.
Buildings that utilise natural resources efficiently are cost effective to operate, enhance occupant health and productivity, and boost investor returns by increased value and reduced depreciation and market volatility.
Final certification provides a clear and communicable signal to potential investors, owners and occupants.
